Curl your hair without heat

Luscious curls like those sported by Kim Kardashian, are a gorgeous addition to any look but who really has time to curl their hair every morning unless of course you have a hair stylist like Kim Kardashian’s. Not only is it time consuming but some people’s hair just doesn't hold curls, others of course have natural curls that need a bit of taming( I know, I’m one of them!). I have the perfect solution that doesn't require much time, nearly always works and doesn't use heat so it’s good for your hair. Impossible you say, oh no it’s not! Here are two ways to curl your hair without heat, in case one wasn't enough for you! Both these techniques work best on damp to slightly wet hair and work even better if you sleep on them overnight.

Technique 1:

For the first technique, you need an elastic headband that is tight yet comfortable enough to sleep on. Take a small section of hair and roll it into the headband. Continue to roll your hair in this way until all of it is tucked up into the headband and then pop off to bed to get a good nights sleep. After you've woken up, it’s time to take out your headband. This is the hardest part and takes a bit of time, you basically just need to tug the headband until all the hair comes loose. You should now have a full head of beautiful curls. If you need more instruction on how to do this technique, there are hundreds of tutorials and Youtube videos out there but my favourite is on Maegan’s blog, Love Maegan.

Technique 2:

The second technique is a little harder. Cut a few strips from some fabric. Separate a piece of hair and twist it around one of the pieces of fabric and  tie it in place. Continue to do this with the rest of your hair. Go to sleep and in the morning untie the rags. You should now  have gorgeous natural curls! If you want to see pictures of this being done, Katie did a great tutorial on A Beautiful Mess.

I've only done the first one myself and it worked brilliantly! I love how easy it and it's fine to sleep on. I tried to do the second one a few months ago but I found it very fiddly and soon gave up! Maybe that's just me not being able to do it! I'd love to hear if there are any more no heat curling techniques that I haven't heard of? I'd also love to hear if you've tried these techniques and if they worked for you?

  1. Thank you for sharing these great tips to curl hair without heat! I love to curl my hair but I usually do it for a couple of weeks and then take a break so I don't fry my hair! I will definitely have to try these, I'm so curious to know how they will work for my hair!

    1. Yeah, I know what you mean, I'm taking a break from straightening my hair, my split ends are atrocious! Maybe I'll just embrace the curls from now on! Thanks for commenting!
